Sports Investment: Olympians’ Plan

National Summit to Forge Solutions for Sustainable Sports Growth and Athlete Support

The Nigeria Olympian Association (NOA) on Monday announced plans to hold its National Summit from July 22 to 24 at Zeus Paradise Hotel, Mabushi, Abuja.

According to NOA President and ex-basketball international, Olumide Oyedeji, a congress will be held on July 23 in line with the association’s constitution.

Oyedeji said the congress will enable members to adopt important resolutions that will guide the association’s future operations and direction.

The three-day summit will serve as a strategic forum for Olympians to discuss the future of sports development in Nigeria.

The meeting aims to foster collaboration, exchange experiences, and offer solutions to challenges facing Nigerian athletes.

As part of the summit, a Dinner and Awards Night with the theme ‘The Labours of Our Heroes Past’ will be held on July 24.

Oyedeji stated that the event will honour Olympians and their families, and discuss athlete welfare and ongoing recognition efforts.

Sports administrators promoting Olympic values, youth empowerment, and sports development will also be honoured at the ceremony.

Past recipients include Mr Sunday Dare, former Youth and Sports Minister, and Mr Abu Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.

Also recognised was Philip Shaibu, former Edo Deputy Governor and now Director-General, National Institute for Sports.

The association will also visit orphanages in Abuja as part of a humanitarian outreach to support and give back to the community. (NAN)
