Kwara Leads North in Teachers’ Exam
Kwara State has emerged as the top-performing state in Northern Nigeria in the recently concluded Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) for teachers, recording a 93.8 per cent pass rate.
According to the Kwara State Ministry of Commerce website, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) conveyed the recognition in a congratulatory letter to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, signed by the council’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Dr Ronke Soyombo.
Out of 678 candidates registered for the examination, 616 sat for it, while 578 passed.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, described the achievement as a reflection of the state government’s continued investment in education, teacher development and merit-based recruitment.
He attributed the performance to efforts to ensure that qualified and competent professionals are engaged in public schools, while also commending the successful teachers for their commitment to improving teaching and learning across the state.
Olohungbebe added that the government would continue to prioritise teacher development and education reforms, as well as collaborate with the TRCN to address gaps in key areas such as mathematics.
