Free Medical Outreach: Irepodun Residents Praise AbdulRazaq
Irepodun Hails AbdulRazaq Over Free Medical Outreach
Residents of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the ongoing free medical outreach across the state’s 16 local government areas, describing the initiative as a timely intervention for residents facing challenges accessing healthcare.
The medical outreach, held at the Cottage Hospital, Ajase-Ipo, attracted young and elderly residents seeking medical attention.
Organised by the Kwara State Ministry of Health, the outreach provided thousands of residents with free medical consultations and other healthcare services.
Beneficiaries received medical consultations, eye examinations, prescription drugs, reading glasses and other medical services. Health personnel also educated participants on preventive healthcare and healthy living.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Akanbi Rasheedat, whose child underwent hernia surgery during the outreach, expressed appreciation to the governor, saying the intervention came at a time when she could barely afford her child’s medical treatment.
She said her child had been experiencing chest discomfort and coughing but received medication and other necessary medical attention during the programme.
“I am very grateful to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing healthcare for us at this time. Words are not enough to express my appreciation,” she said.
Similarly, an elderly beneficiary, Mrs. Khadijat Adisa, whose cataract surgery was performed during the outreach, expressed joy over the free medical services.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Mrs. Adisa shed tears of gratitude and offered prayers for the governor, commending his commitment to the wellbeing of residents.
She described the outreach as a significant intervention, noting that the services received by beneficiaries would have cost substantial amounts in hospitals and clinics.
According to her, she was examined, underwent surgery and was given a pair of glasses, all at no cost.
A community leader, Chief Adewale Adekanbi, also commended the initiative, saying it had brought relief to residents, particularly elderly people who could not afford medical treatment.
“Our people are happy with this programme. If we continue to have this kind of programme, it will save a lot of people, especially the elderly ones,” he said.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, said the initiative, introduced by the Kwara State Government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was designed to provide free medical treatment and surgical interventions for residents.
Represented by the Director of Medical Services and Training in the ministry, Dr. Musilihu Odunaiya, the commissioner explained that the statewide programme focuses on addressing the healthcare needs of indigent residents.
He said the programme covers conditions such as cataract, hydrocelectomy, lipoma and other ailments requiring minor surgical interventions.
Odunaiya added that surgeries are performed free of charge, while medications are also provided for residents with common ailments.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Hon. Yakub Azeez, represented by the Director of Personnel Management, Prince Suleiman Babatunde, thanked the governor for bringing healthcare services closer to people at the grassroots.
He urged residents to take advantage of the government’s intervention to access quality healthcare.
