IGP Disu Launches Skills Programme for Police Officers’ Spouses

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has partnered with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) and the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) to launch a skills acquisition and empowerment programme for spouses of junior police officers.

The initiative, held at the MD Abubakar Police Barracks, Dei-Dei, Abuja, is aimed at promoting financial independence and strengthening the welfare of police families.

Speaking at the event, IGP Disu described the programme as a vital investment in the wellbeing of officers, noting that family stability plays a key role in the effectiveness of the Force. He urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the training and resources provided.

Executive Secretary of the NPTF, Mohammed Sheidu, said the programme reflects the Fund’s commitment to improving the economic capacity of police families, while also supporting national development goals.

POWA President, Chief Mrs Olufunmilola Mutiat Disu, highlighted the importance of empowering families, stressing that national security begins at home.

The Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the welfare of its personnel through strategic partnerships.
