Kwara Government Pledges Continued Support to Nigerian Correctional Service

SSG Assures Collaboration to Enhance Service Delivery in the State

Kwara Government has pledged its continuous support to the state command of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Mamman Jibril, gave the assurance in Ilorin on Wednesday at the visit of the new State Controller of the service, Mr Famuwagun Oyediran.

Jibril appreciated the mutual working relationship between the government and the command, assuring the government would not renege in its support and assistance to ease its operations in the state.

The SSG also promised that the state government would look into the requests made by the command to enhance efficient service delivery in the state.

Earlier, the controller had pleaded for the relocation of the Oke-Kura Custodial Centre in Ilorin to a vast land that could adequately take care of its services.

According to Oyediran, the present centre is overpopulated, resulting in a precarious situation threatening the health of the inmates.

He acknowledged the support of the state government by applauding the drilling of boreholes at the Oke-Kura centre.

The gesture, he said, had significantly relieved them of the burden of water provision. (NAN)
