Kwara LGA Plans Upgrades for Omu-Aran Motor Park

Chairman Outlines Plans for Modernization and Improved Facilities

The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu, on Monday met with transport unions on issues regarding the Omu-Aran motor park and border community development initiatives.

Yakubu, at the meeting in his office, said one of the main topics to be addressed was the borehole provided for the park.

According to him, there have been misconceptions that the borehole was designated for a particular union.

The chairman, however, clarified that the facility was for the benefit of the entire motor park and not exclusive to any specific group.

“This clarification is essential to foster unity and ensure equitable access to public resources. This administration is committed to upgrading the Omu-Aran park into an ultra-modern facility.

“Our plan includes the construction of modern lockup shops, well-equipped public toilet facilities, solar-powered streetlights, and other necessary infrastructure to make the motor park more functional and vibrant.

“I am here to serve the people. Without the people, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Yakubu said.

He assured that his administration would not only focus on Omu-Aran but also extend similar developmental projects to parks across the entire Irepodun Local Government Area.

The chairman also urged the transport unions to actively support efforts to address security challenges in the local government.

According to him, transporters play a crucial role in ensuring safety and stability, and their collaboration could significantly contribute to enhancing local security.

Responding on behalf of the unions, Alhaji Azeez Adebayo, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), expressed appreciation for the chairman’s initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting his administration.

He pledged the collaboration of the unions with the local government to ensure the successful implementation of developmental projects. (NAN)
