Kwara State Shines as Nigeria’s Top Performer in Road Funding
Kwara Recognized for Excellence in Counterpart Funding and Disbursement

Kwara State has been awarded the prestigious title of the best-performing Nigerian state in counterpart funding under the Roads Asset Assessment and Management Programme (RAAMP).
This accolade was revealed on Monday in Abuja during the 8th RAAMP implementation support mission.
The assessment, which reviewed the performance of all participating states in preparation for the new year, recognized Kwara’s outstanding achievements in both counterpart funding payments and overall disbursement.
Abdulquawiy Olododo, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, expressed his excitement following the announcement.
“This is a significant achievement for our state. It reflects the unwavering dedication of His Excellency to equitable development. This award confirms his efforts to advance our state’s growth,” he stated.
During the event, awards were distributed across multiple categories. Kwara State was honored as the best in counterpart funding among 19 participating states, showcasing its leadership in paying the required share.
Additionally, Kwara earned recognition for overall disbursement, surpassing other states in securing funds from the World Bank and the French Development Bank.
The state’s development progress is evident, with approximately 209.77 kilometers of roads under construction, reflecting Kwara’s commitment to infrastructural improvement.
These achievements underscore the state’s strong financial management and its growing reputation for public sector accountability.
