NDLEA Nets 33 Drug traffikkers in Kwara and 4 other states

33 arrests and significant seizures disrupt supply chains of harmful substances.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 33 suspected drug traffickers with assorted illicit drugs through raids in Lagos, Kano, Kwara, Taraba, and the FCT.

This is contained in a statement signed by the NDLEA Director, Media, and Advocacy, (DMA), Mr Femi Babafemi on Sunday in Abuja.

Babafemi said NDLEA operatives seized not less than 67 kilograms of skunk from a suspect on Thursday, Jan. 16,  when they raided his house in Edumare Street, Lagos Island.

He said that various quantities of illicit substances were also recovered from another suspect on Tuesday, Jan. 14, when operatives raided his Jerry Irabi Estate, Lekki hideout.

“Drugs recovered included 3.7 liters of codeine syrup; 10,000 pills of tramadol; 1,670 tablets of Rohypnol; 6.5kg of cannabis; 3,100 tablets of diazepam; 10,090 tablets of Molly.

“Others are 5,500 tabs of Exol-5; 1.2kg slices of wrapped methamphetamine and a monetary exhibit of ₦623,650,” he said.

He further said two suspects were arrested on Friday, Jan. 17, at Dawanau, Dawakin Tofa local government area in Kano state.

Babafemi said a total of 7.6kg of skunk, 78 tubes of rubber solution, and 356 bottles of “suck and die”, a new psychoactive substance were recovered from them.

The NDLEA spokesman said that in another raid in Kano, Usman Isa, 29, was nabbed along Zaria Road with 114 blocks of skunk weighing 49.8kg.

“Three suspects, were on Wednesday, Jan. 15 arrested by NDLEA operatives with 390 tablets of Molly and 65.5kg of cannabis.

“The suspects were nabbed at Bode Saadu in Moro local government area of Kwara.

“One suspect  24, was also nabbed with 25,000 pills of tramadol by operatives along Wukari- Zaki Ibiam road, Wukari,  Taraba,”  he said.

Meanwhile, in a series of raids in Abuja, a suspect, was arrested at Gwarimpa village area of the FCT with 118 bottles of codeine-based syrup.

Babafemi said that 13 others were nabbed in other locations such as: Area1 IDP camp, Gishiri, Zuba, Dei -Dei, AYA, Lagos Street Garki, Karu, and Lugbe.

Babafemi said drugs recovered from them included different quantities of tramadol, diazepam, and methamphetamine. (NAN)
