Katsina’s Ramadan Relief: Targeting the Vulnerable

10,000 Bags of Rice for 2025 Feeding Program

The Katsina State Government says its 2025 Ramadan Special Feeding Programme will target vulnerable residents.

The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya-Daura, reaffirmed the government’s commitment during a State Steering Committee meeting on Ramadan Feeding in Katsina on Friday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual Ramadan feeding program was initiated by Gov. Dikko Radda, with over 10,000 bags of rice procured for the 2025 exercise.

Yahaya-Daura said the program aimed to support less privileged individuals who might struggle to afford food during the fasting period.

“I enjoin local committee members to be vigilant and ensure that targeted community members benefit from the special package,” he said.

The speaker noted that the initiative was introduced in 2024 as part of the Radda administration’s efforts to support fasting residents.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alh. Sani Aliyu-Daura said the meeting was organised to strategise for the programme’s success.

Aliyu-Daura stated that all food items would be delivered to the headquarters of each of the 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) by Friday.

He urged officials in charge of distribution to be fair and just in their duties.

Alh. Ya’u GojoGojo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, explained the composition of local government committees overseeing the programme’s implementation.

He said state assembly members representing each local government would serve on the committee alongside the council chairman and commissioner.

“Also, a permanent secretary from the area and representatives of major Islamic sects will be members,” he added.

The Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Alh. Abdullahi Aliyu-Turaji said local committees would receive guidelines for food distribution.

“Each committee will be given a template to guide them on distributing items in their respective areas,” he stated.

NAN also reports that feeding centres have been established based on the number of electoral wards in each local government area. (NAN)
