Offa’s Progress: Local Council Projects Transform Lives

Kwara Government Praises Impactful Leadership and Community-Focused Development

The Kwara State Government has applauded the Offa Local Government Council for executing projects that positively impact the lives of its residents.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, stated this during the inspections of capital projects executed by the Council, under the leadership of Hon. Olatunji Suleiman, the Executive Chairman.
The Commissioner disclosed that the commendations became imperative after carefully observing the immense impacts of the projects on the benefiting communities.
Hon. Bata made some observations on some of the ongoing projects. They implored the contractors to expedite actions on them as the benefiting communities are very anxious to make use of the projects.
He, however, disclosed that he was aware of the enormous resources the Council had committed to executing the projects, adding that the Executive Chairman and the management team had demonstrated their love for their constituents.
Speaking on the ongoing construction of Igbo-Oro/Ayuba Road in Offa, the Commissioner specially thanked the Executive Chairman for taking up such big projects, knowing fully well the enormous resources needed to finish the construction.
According to the Commissioner, “I believe that the entire people of the Council would never forget this very great intervention, as the projects will ease the movement of goods and services to the main market, boosting the economic activities of the area”, he said.
Speaking at the various sites of inspections, the Executive Chairman attributed the success recorded since his  assumption of office to the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms, who had chosen to prioritize public interest over their ambitions.
Hon. Olatunji said that all the projects executed were community-based requests, as he called for patience from communities with pending requests that they would be attended to in earnest.
Speaking on the ongoing road construction, the Executive Chairman disclosed that it has become necessary for him to intervene in the projects knowing fully well that the economic importance of the projects are not limited to the people of the area, but will also benefit traders as it is the easiest link to the main market for traders.
He also promised to intervene in the construction of befitting classrooms for Igbo-Idun Community, who are populated with Fulani settlers, in addition to the motorized borehole and ssolar-powered lightsalready provided for them.
Several communities that could not hide their joy and appreciation came out in large numbers to pray for the Executive Chairman on the intervention projects in their domains.
Notably was the appreciation by the Seriki Fulani of Offa, Mallam Muhammed Lawal, who thanked the Executive Chairman for the provision of potable water and installation of solar lights, adding that they are very optimistic of the classrooms promised by the Chairman, describing him as a man of his word.
Among the projects visited were the renovation of a block of two classrooms at Yeke Village, sthe upply and installation of a 300KVA transformer at Imperial Area in Offa, and rthe enovation of the Igbo-Idun Primary Health Care Centre building, among others.
The Commissioner was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Iyabo Modupe Adekeye; Director, Local Government Affairs, Mrs Akande Christiana, among other top officials of the Ministry.
