Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has announced that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 24 new academic programmes for the institution, according to a post on the university’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The approval allows the full-time commencement of the programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.
Details shared by the university indicate that the approval was conveyed in a letter dated June 19, 2026, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and signed by the NUC Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei.
Out of the newly approved programmes, 14 are undergraduate courses, while 10 are at the postgraduate level.
The undergraduate programmes include B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.NSc. Nursing Science, B.Ed. Educational Technology, B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling, B.Ed. Health Education, and B.Ed. Entrepreneurship Education.
Others are B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management, B.Ed. Technology Education, B. Community Health Science, B.Eng. Computer Engineering, B.Eng. Industrial and Production Engineering, and B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering.
At the postgraduate level, the approved programmes include M.A. and Ph.D. in Fine and Applied Arts, M.A. and Ph.D. in Performing Arts, M.A. Linguistics, PGD/M.Tech, and Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology.
Also approved are Ph.D. programmes in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Public Administration, and Mass Communication.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed delight and commended members of staff for their efforts in ensuring a successful resource verification exercise by the regulatory body.
He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining high standards in teaching, research, and community development, aimed at producing skilled graduates to contribute to global development.
