First HoldCo shares climb to record high on NGX
Bank's market value crosses N3.8 trillion mark for first time.
First HoldCo Plc shares surged to an all-time high of N87.25 on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Thursday, pushing the lender’s market capitalisation past N3.8 trillion for the first time in its history.
The stock’s rally lifted First HoldCo’s market value to approximately N3.83 trillion, cementing its position as one of the best-performing bank stocks on the NGX in 2026 despite broader volatility across the exchange.
The latest gain places First HoldCo as the third most valuable financial institution on the NGX by market capitalisation, trailing only GT HoldCo and Zenith Bank, which continue to occupy the top two spots.
Market watchers attribute the upward movement to sustained investor accumulation of the stock, a trend that has persisted even as other segments of the market experienced turbulence.
Thursday’s close marks a new milestone for First HoldCo, whose share price performance this year has outpaced many of its peers in the banking sector, reinforcing investor confidence in the lender heading into the rest of 2026.
