New Financial Opportunity in Omu-Aran: Microfinance Bank Reopens

Rebranded Bank Offers Modern Services to Boost Local Economy

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, on Monday inaugurated the rebranded Olomu Aperan Microfinance Bank Limited in in Omu-Aran, Kwara.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former bank, Omu-Aran Microfinance Bank Limited, was liquidated by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 2023 due to poor management.

 

This prompted the new owner, Olomu Aperan Microfinance Bank Limited, to acquire its assets and liabilities.

 

Adeoti, at the inauguration which took place at the bank’s premises in Omu-Aran, headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, urged the community to patronise the bank.

 

The traditional ruler noted that the bank was the first to be granted operational licence to reopen from the pool of liquidated microfinance banks.

 

He urged members of the community to make the bank a strong financial institution by opening and reactivating their previous account details.

 

Earlier, the Chairman, Board of Directors, Engr Sunday Babalola, explained that the bank was now modernised, like any other commercial institution.

 

Babalola said that customers could now use their Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards in any other bank, as well as Point of Sales (POS) machines.

 

He said the the bank was now operating with a credit policy and reminded the new bank’s customers that “it is no longer business as usual”.

 

Also, Mr Azeez Yakubu, Chairman, Irepodun Local Government Area, commended the board of directors.

 

He pledged to ensure that the local government’s account was moved to the bank.

 

In his goodwill message, Mr Niyi Adeyeye, President of Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA), pledged the association’s support to the growth of the bank.

 

Similarly, Mr Oladele Olawoye, Chairman, National Association of Microfinance Banks of Nigeria, Kwara Chapter, said the community had a bigger role to play in the development of the bank.

 

He urged the community to patronise the bank and appealed for support of the government in helping the bank to grow.

 

NAN reports that the event was attended by dignitaries from the academia, traditional institutions and religious leaders. (NAN)
