Revamped Garage: New Shops Boost Local Trade
Kwara LGA Builds Modern Lock-Ups, Creating Business Hub

The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area in Kwara, Abdulazeez Yakubu, has commenced the construction of ultra-modern lock-up shops at the Ilorin garage, Omu-Aran.
During an inspection of the project site on Tuesday, Yakubu reiterated his resolve to revamp the garage into a thriving commercial hub.
He noted that the construction of the lock-up shops would mark the beginning of a comprehensive redevelopment plan, which would include the installation of solar-powered streetlights, interlocked flooring, and ultra-modern pavilions.
“This initiative is part of our broader vision to transform the Ilorin garage into a well-structured and business-friendly environment.
“The lock-up shops will provide traders with secured and conducive space for their businesses, while additional upgrades such as solar lighting and interlocking will enhance aesthetic, accessibility and security,” he said.
He said that the ongoing project underscored the commitment of the local government’s leadership to grassroots development and economic empowerment, aligning with the administration’s vision for sustainable urban renewal.
It would be recalled that a few months ago, the local government provided a motorized borehole for the garage, addressing the need for clean and accessible water for traders and commuters.
Residents and business owners in the area have commended the initiative, expressing optimism that the transformation would boost economic activities and improve the overall outlook of the garage.
Construction work on the lock-up shops is expected to progress swiftly, with further phases of the redevelopment project set to follow in due course. (NAN)
