College of Education, Oro Holds Combined Convocation for 1,828 Graduates

Provost Outlines Vision for Academic Excellence

The Provost of the College of Education, Oro, in Kwara, Prof. Mukaila Ayanda, says he will transform the institution into a hub of academic excellence.

 

Ayanda asserted on Tuesday during a news briefing in preparation for the institution’s 13th combined convocation, scheduled for Jan.30 in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

 

“My vision is achievable by continuously providing a conducive academic environment for both the staff and students.

 

“The management of the college strongly shares in the dream and policy thrust of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara in transforming the state’s educational sector.

 

“We promise to continuously channel all our energy towards the development of the college, students’ growth, and the general welfare of staff.

 

“I want to enhance the status of the college above its contemporaries as a focused, efficient, effective, and reliable provider of quality, professional teachers in Kwara and Nigeria in general,” he said.

 

Ayanda expressed optimism that God would provide the strength, wisdom, and resources to accomplish the ambition.

 

The provost explained that Prof. Nike Sidiqat, Faculty of Education, Al-Hikma University, Ilorin, would be delivering the convocation lecture titled “The Role of Education in Sustainability“.

 

He said the combined convocation would feature sets of graduating students from 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 academic sessions.

 

According to Ayanda, the total number of graduands for the combined convocation is 1,828, while 1,811 will be awarded the National Certificate of Education (NCE).

 

“The remaining 17 would be awarded Professional Diploma of Education (PDE).

 

“Awards will be presented to outstanding students, community leaders, government officials, staff, and alumni who have made significant contributions to the college and the society,” he said. (NAN)
