The Rector of the college, Dr Yaru Salihu, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ajase-Ipo and signed by Grace Ige, the Press Secretary of the institution.

According to Salihu, the program is sponsored by the Kwara Government and aims to promote viable skills acquisition training to increase the effectiveness of the government’s effort at combating poverty and youth unemployment.

“It also intends to create jobs to increase entrepreneurship opportunities among the teeming youths in the state.

“Areas of training of the scheme include trades and vocations; automotive, building and electrical departments, heating department, air-conditioning (HVAC), hospitality and Tourism.

“Others are management, Information Communication Technology (ICT), welding and fabrication, as well as entrepreneurship departments.

“The program entails an intensive three months in-center training, followed by the mandatory three months of industrial attachment at the appropriate industry/business outfits.

“Upon successful completion of the program, the state government will provide qualified beneficiaries with an empowerment business start-up package, which would enable them to start their businesses,” he said.

The rector also said Feb.17 was the resumption date for the 2024/2025 session, while successful beneficiaries would be awarded a Technical and Entrepreneurship Certificate in their field of training.

He, however, called on interested candidates between the ages of 18 and 35 to log in to their website and follow up with the correct details to complete the application process promptly.

The rector also disclosed that the state government had been providing full tuition fees, scholarships, and monthly stipends of N5,000 each for beneficiaries who had gone through the training since inception.

“It is expected that all beneficiaries at the training will have acquired enough skills to make a better living, either gainfully employed or as entrepreneurs,” he said. (NAN)
