Kwara Fiscal Responsibility Commission Inspects Projects in Patigi, Pushes for Transparency and Accountability

From road grading to solar boreholes, the Commission monitors ongoing developments to ensure funds are well-spent for the people of Patigi.

The Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (KWFRC) has inspected ongoing and newly executed projects in Patigi Local Government Council to ensure prudent management of funds in the State.

The Chairman of the Commission Barr. Abubakar Othman who stated that the Commission is set to reform Kwara State, explained that with the enactment of the freedom of information bill, citizens are entitled to know how State funds are being utilized.

During the inspection, the team visited the Patigi Local Government Town Hall at Lade Community where it was confirmed that the project would be completed in four weeks.

The Chairman of Patigi Local Government, Hon. Adam Rufai expressed delight to receive the Commission and promised that all the ongoing projects would be completed in record time for the benefit of citizens.

He also appreciated the Commission for the oversight functions, which he said would help improve prudency and transparency in the State.

Projects executed by the Council included the grading, filling and compaction of Patigi to Gadaworo road, ongoing renovation of the Legislative Council Hall, ongoing renovation of the Local Government Secretariat, ongoing renovation of Kampe game reserve office, construction of a block of two classrooms with an office at Agboro, procurement and installation of solar street lights across the Local Government, drilling and reticulation of 16 motorized solar boreholes across Patigi Local Government, purchase of official vehicles to the office of the Local Government Chairman, Vice Chairman, Speaker, Director of Personnel Management and the Local Government Treasurer.

Others are the completion and remodeling of the health clinic at Gadaworo Community, ongoing construction of a Town Hall at Lade, ongoing construction of the Police post at Gadaworo, ongoing renovation of low cost housing Estate at Patigi, ongoing renovation of Junior Secondary School Godiwa, ongoing construction of a mini stadium at Patigi, purchase and distribution of 15 bajaj motorcycles for security initiative at Patigi, distribution of exercise books to primary school pupils across Patigi Local Government, construction of a guest house at Kpada, monthly donation of fifty thousand naira (50,000) to twenty four bandit victims across Patigi Local Government, and purchase of furniture to the Legislative Chamber, among others.
