First HoldCo delivers record ₦653.54bn half-year earnings

Pre-tax profit soars 83.5% year-on-year as shares jump 10%

First HoldCo Plc has reported its best-ever half-year performance, with pre-tax profit rising by 83.50 per cent to ₦653.54 billion for the six months ended June 30.

The figure represents a significant jump from the ₦356.15 billion posted in the corresponding period of 2025, according to the company’s results.

A breakdown of the results showed that the Group’s second-quarter pre-tax profit stood at ₦332.42 billion, up 95.92 per cent year-on-year from ₦169.67 billion recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

The Q2 2026 figure also reflected a 3.52 per cent increase quarter-on-quarter from an estimated ₦321.12 billion posted in the first quarter of the year.

Investors reacted positively to the results, as the company’s share price gained 10 per cent during mid-trading following the announcement.

First HoldCo, one of Nigeria’s largest financial holding companies, described the half-year outing as the strongest six-month performance in its history.

The results add to a string of strong earnings reports from major players in Nigeria’s financial services sector in the 2026 half-year reporting season.
